ZINE『HANAKOTOBA』

Postcards inspired by the key visual of my first solo exhibition, HANAKOTOBA.
As someone who deeply loves flowers,
I paired some of the flower photographs I had casually taken over the years
with my own original “HANAKOTOBA.”
As I also spoke about in the HANAKOTOBA zine,
the encounters I have through my work
are something I truly treasure.
I hope you will send these cards, each with its own feeling,
to someone who matters to you.

[Statement]
HANAKOTOBA is an attempt to give form to emotion through words.
There are feelings that cannot be put into words. There are also feelings that change the moment they are spoken aloud.
That is why I placed just one word beside each flower photograph.
It is better when it is almost unreadable.
When flowers and white letters appear side by side, it feels as though the feeling itself can remain, just as it is.
I call the distance that emerges between flower and word “HANAKOTOBA.”
